Dr Muhammad Sani Idris, the new Executive Secretary, National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education (NCAOOSCE), has called for the revitalization of public schools to check the menace of out-of-school kids in the country.
Dr Idris made the call at a seminar organised by the United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and other partners, in Abuja.
He decried the literacy level of some students from such schools, saying it does not encourage the other Out-of-School children to seek education.
Dr Idris also advocated a change of approach in the advocacy for children to go to school to reflect cultural sensitivities.
He called on stakeholders in education to walk the talk towards addressing the challenges facing the sector in the country.
