Upper Caldwell Community School in Liberia has named its Inter House Sports Blue House after the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education, Dr Muhammad Idris.
Kollie Jellah Junior, the principal of the school, made the announcement during the visit of the executive secretary to the school in Montserrado County, Samukai Town, Monrovia.
Junior said the gesture was in recognition of Dr. Idris’s tireless efforts at addressing the challenges faced by Almajiri and out-of-school children in Nigeria.
The Executive Secretary expressed gratitude for the honour and pledged to continue championing the cause of the Almajiri and out-of-school children in fulfilment of the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Upper Caldwell Community School is one of the institutions in Liberia that has opened its doors to previously out-of-school children.
Dr. Idris’s visit to the country is part of a study tour focused on tackling the menace of out-of-school children, organised by a USAID-funded organisation, “Opportunities to Learn” (OTL).
