The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education (NCAOOSCE) has concluded its Zonal Capacity Development and Performance Enhancement Training in Kano, marking the successful completion of the North-West phase of the programme, as part of efforts to strengthen staff capacity, improve institutional performance and enhance service delivery.

The programme, organised by the Commission’s Human Resource and Administration Department, was designed to equip staff with the knowledge and professional skills required to deliver effectively on the Commission’s national mandate.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Executive Secretary, Dr Muhammad Sani Idris, urged staff to demonstrate diligence, discipline and commitment in discharging their responsibilities. He stressed that Almajiri and out-of-school children across Nigeria deserved improved service delivery, noting that staff must remain conscious of the lives and educational opportunities affected by the Commission’s work.

He also commended the Federal Government and the President for investing in human capital development, urging participants to take the training seriously and translate the knowledge acquired into improved performance and accountability.

The training covered nine key areas, including Performance Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Decision-Making and Problem-Solving, Stress Management, Artificial Intelligence in the Public Service, Public Service Rules, Schemes of Service, Administrative Procedures and the Civil Service Handbook. The sessions also featured interactive discussions and post-training evaluation.

In his remarks, the Head of Human Resource and Administration, Dr Daha Tijjani Abdurrahman, emphasised the importance of aligning staff development with the Commission’s institutional objectives. He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to their daily responsibilities, stressing that the success of the exercise would be measured by its impact on workplace productivity and service delivery.

Dr Abdurrahman also acknowledged the support of the Executive Secretary, Heads of Departments, the Human Resource team and other personnel whose contributions facilitated the programme.

The conclusion of the Kano training marks the successful completion of the North-West phase of the Commission’s wider capacity development initiative. The programme is expected to be replicated across other geopolitical zones of the country, reinforcing NCAOOSCE’s commitment to building a competent, professional and performance-driven workforce.

Under the theme, “Stronger Teams, Brighter Futures for Every Child,” the initiative underscores the Commission’s belief that a well-equipped workforce is essential to improving educational inclusion and delivering better outcomes for Almajiri and out-of-school children across Nigeria.
