The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education (NCAOOSCE) has convened a one-day induction programme for Heads of its State Offices in Kano.
The programme aimed to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive the enrollment of 10 million out-of-school children by 2027, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, emphasized the importance of commitment and stakeholder engagement in reforming Almajiri education and enrolling millions of Nigerian children in school.
He highlighted the critical role state office heads will play in achieving this goal and announced a system of rewarding top-performing state offices and sanctioning underperforming ones to ensure accountability and motivation.
The Director of Resource Mobilization and Grant Management, Prof. Ruqayyatu Bashiru Tukur stated that the Commission's mandate to establish schools would soon be evident across the country, with schools and learning centers becoming noticeable in different parts of Nigeria.
The Head of Human Resources and Administration at the Commission, Dr. Daha Tijjani Abdurrahman had earlier noted that the training's purpose was to familiarize state office heads with their expectations ahead of the massive enrollment of out-of-school children.
The training covered various topics, including strategies for enrolling out-of-school children (drawing from the successful enrollment of over 22,000 children in the FCT), office management, planning and administration, Almajiri education reform efforts, media strategies, and financial management.
The state office heads expressed gratitude to the Executive Secretary for the training and pledged to diligently discharge their duties.
